"Blue Meanie is a source of confusion in the mushroom world, as the name is commonly applied to two different species of mushroom. One is Blue Meanie Cubensis, and the other is Panaeolus Cyancesens/Copelandia Cyanescens. However, these species have drastically different visual characteristics and potency. A popular Cubensis variety that has undergone a significant amount of domestication and isolation, resulting in greater consistency, resistance to contamination, and above-average yields. Blue Meanie's name is derived from the vivid blue bruising wherever the fruiting body is impacted. Cap coloration is light beige to golden tan/brown, often with white speckling.
