"Mazatepec Cubensis's natural habitat is the mountainous Mazatepec region of Mexico. Along with Huautla, it was one of the first cubensis varieties to be introduced to the Western World. Fruiting bodies are average in size with broad caps that often invert to a convex shape in maturity. Cap coloration ranges from shades of brown to gold. Mazatepec's typically have slender elongated stems and prolific sporulation that often turns mature mushrooms purplish black. Its effects, similar to other Mexican varieties, include profound spiritual feelings of connectedness and unity with the universe, intense feelings of love and euphoria, and deep personal insight and reflection."
